WOE TO ME…to SEND ME!

Reaction to the Virtual Camp Meeting “I Will Go” by Pastor Ted Wilson

 Elder Wilson, our President, covered Isaiah 6:1 – 8 which say:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”

4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 So I said:

“Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:

“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.”

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

The two phrases that stuck with me are “Woe to me” and ‘Send Me” or as Elder Wilson said, the modern phrase “I Will Go.”

How much more of the Lord of Hosts’ magnificence, power and glory must we witness in our lifetime or be demonstrated by God before our very eyes individually before we realize how sinful, unworthy and powerless we are in our physical and spiritual battle.  Isaiah realized how unworthy he was to stand before God because he did not even come close to being like Him.

Thankfully, just like with Isaiah, having this full realization is the first step towards asking God to cleanse us from our filthiness and surely, God will send messengers to touch our unclean lips with the burning coal.  This is the most crucial moment. If we miss this part, we are “undone”.

And with the purging of our sins, we are ready to accept the challenge God has for each and every one of us.

The work of God in us starts with ‘Woe to (is) me”.  Self must die and Christ is lifted up. The work is accomplished when we meet His challenge by declaring, “Send Me.” There is a complete transformation! From unworthy, to worthy, to become co-finishers with God.

God is asking us “Whom shall I send?”
