A Child Shall Lead Them

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.”

~Isaiah 11:6 NKJV

With the re-created image of man, in the earth made new, the fear of the animal predators shall cease, and the dominion of man, including little children, over the animal kingdom will be restored. Harmony and peace shall prevail, the lion shall play with the lamb, and even a child will be able and shall lead them. Children will wander around in the wilderness with them yet completely feel safe; such is the state with our transformed lives under the Prince of Peace.

These beautiful scenes described by Isaiah are played over and over again, are being spoken of, pictured and used as examples in many sermons of that wonderful, idyllic place awaiting the redeemed.

Meanwhile, while waiting for Jesus' return, how amazing it would be if our children within our homes and in our church won't live in fear or, even worse, be driven away by well-meaning "predator adults" around their sphere of influence. Just a simple misplaced comment and hints of disrespect over their actions or looks may be enough for them to leave the church and their homes.

This Sabbath, the Bramalea family will witness our own children present their heartfelt play, something they have tediously laboured for under the leadership of Pauline Bowen.

What a beautiful manifestation of love and support for our growing children and young minds and an expression of their love for God.  We are grateful for their parents and spiritual mentors in the church who have helped nurture them into what they've become today.

Let's give God the glory and honour for this harvest of joy. Seeing the young and old toiling together is the springboard of preparedness for the journey towards being ONE with the One we have been waiting for and who had been longing to be reunited with us.
