My Ancient Macbook Pro
Today, Sunday 04.06.25 - As I was sitting at my “office - StarBucks Fergus”, pounding the keys on my ancient 2011 MacBook Pro, an older gentleman came by because he noticed the cover of my laptop was full of stickers. He said, “ I love your laptop cover,” with a big grin on his face. Not sure if he was being sarcastic or genuine, I looked at him with a bigger smile on my face, and responded, “Thank you, it was my son’s laptop, it’s 14 years old.
“I can’t get an updated operating system anymore for it is no longer supported.…I’m just waiting for it to go.”
It took him a few seconds to say ”oh!” I sensed that perhaps he had no clue what I was talking about.
It doesn’t matter.
Not wanting to sound like I was implying that he was old and about to leave this earth…I said..” I guess that’s how life is…we all get there at some point.” I followed that up quickly and said, “You look good, though”. He smiled back at me, perhaps appreciative of my genuine assessment of his state of being. He quickly responded, “You look better”. Her wife, standing beside him, also smiled back and grabbed his hand to walk out the door.
I said, “Thank you, have a wonderful day and have a beautiful week”. They then opened the door and walked out of their favourite coffee shop.
I am so grateful for opportunities to connect...even in small ways to say “hi”. Next time I see them again, perhaps I will be used by the Holy Spirit to boldly share the love of Jesus to them. Maybe they know about Jesus already? I hope I get that chance again.
Rom 15:20 (NLT) - “My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else”.
Have a wonderful week in Jesus..Abide in Him - No Turning back!
